Vision and Values
Our School Context
St Johns is a Church of England Aided Primary School where the Christian faith lies at the heart of everything that we do.
‘With God All Things Are Possible’ (Matthew 19:26)
Love, Wisdom, Hope, Fellowship, Forgiveness, Justice
Our welcoming school, which is situated on the outskirts of Sandbach town on Sandbach Heath, is rich in its Christian Heritage as well as being the chosen school for a vibrant and diverse community.
We are a smaller than average sized primary school and we are extremely proud to serve the local community. St Johns has between 160 - 200 children on the school roll each year, our EYFS and school setting caters for children from 4 – 11 years. Being a single form entry school, enables us to develop strong relationships with our children and their families. The makeup of our school family is predominantly White British and also includes a high percentage of families from a much settled Traveller community. We take pride that the school has long established a supportive and welcoming environment for our diverse community and we share and celebrate our home communities; coming together as a school family to support each other in our learning and love of life.
We have a higher than average percentage of pupils with SEND which we hope to become a growing strength within our school and as a consequence, families will seek admission to St John’s because of this. Aspirations for all pupils are high with a focus on progress and we hope to provide children with a rich and diverse curriculum within a Christian environment which fosters a love of learning. As our pupils realise our Christian Vision, Values and Ethos, they will grow in faith and character.
The school is in a period of change, following a change in leadership as a result of the school inspection, September/December 2023. This has been embraced by the whole school community and all stakeholders. A new interim executive board was appointed and along with a change in senior leadership the school feels vibrant and exciting. A rapid action plan has been introduced along with a rapid action plan for parents, this is because we value the positive relationships that we make with our school families and they trust us with providing the best educational outcomes for their children.
Our Values
After careful reflection we have chosen six values, rooted in the Christian tradition, which express what matters most in our school life. We use these values as focus for our moral and spiritual development, and you will come across them in many places in school. We focus on each in turn through the school year, and they become the themes of our special 'Christian Values Days' which happen each term. They help us to understand the meaning of our Bible stories and our prayers, and become a guide for how we treat one another and live our everyday lives.
Our School Prayer
Almighty God, King of Heaven and Earth,
We want to love you more and to show your love in all ways.
Thank you for our school family,
Help us to remember that with you all things are possible.
Amen
