Free School Meals

Free School Meals – DO YOU QUALIFY FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS?

Is your child eligible for free school meals? If you receive: income support, income based jobseekers allowance, income-related employment and any other type support allowance, then you may be entitled to free school meals.

If you feel that you may meet any of these criteria then you can call the schools team on 0300 123 5012 to find out more or speak with Miss Craig, who will be able to help you.

We are a NUT free school:

Please can I remind all parents, that we are a nut free school. This means that children should not
be bringing any nuts or nut-based food items (such as Nutella) to school. This is because we have some
children and adults in school with a severe nut allergy.

Breaktime Snacks:

All children are allowed to bring in a healthy snack for breaktime or purchase a snack/drink from the kitchen.

Food & Drink Items not permitted:

If a child brings any sugary snacks, fizzy or energy drinks, they will be confiscated and returned to parents at the end of the school day. A healthier snack or drink will be offered to the child such as fruit, water or juice.

Please do not send in snacks and drinks such as:

  • Chocolate bars;
  • Grab size bags of crisp;
  • Sweets;
  • Fizzy drinks such as coke;
  • Energy drinks.
  • And any other food or drink items that are high in sugars.

If these are brought in they will be taken away from the child and given to parents at the end of the day.

Packed Lunches.

If children would prefer to eat a packed lunch from home, then that is absolutely fine. Please click on the links below to see what kind of healthy packed lunches you could make for your child.

If your child is having a packed lunch, we kindly ask:

  • That you do not include ANY types of nuts in the lunch. (This is because we are a nut free school. We do have pupils and adults in school who have a nut allergy)
  • That there is no more than one special treat (cake bar etc) in a child's lunch box.
  • That you do not send in a fizzy drink. Water and juice (with no added sugars) are advised.
  • That you do not send in sweets.
